Sermon: “Thirst”

We come together for the annual Water Communion service to celebrate the gift of shared religious community. Through ritual, music, story, and a short sermon, we mark the beginning of a new year centered on the theme of mission.
As you are able, please bring a bit of water from a meaningful place or event from your summer, or water will be provided. Participants will be invited to add their water to a communal bowl and to share the source of their water in writing to create a mosaic of paper rain drops.
For Families: Childcare for children aged 1-8 is available. Rev. Hank Peirce will share a story for all ages in the service. Following the story, older children are invited to remain in the service after or to childcare for stories, play, and craft. Children of all ages are also always welcome in the sanctuary.

In a culture saturated by information and media, multiple entities vie for our attention. With so many options, how do we decide what or who receives our attention? Drawing on the bestselling book, Theo of Golden, the sermon explores how intentionally choosing to pay attention can be a transformative gift.
