AV ASSISTANT (Part-Time) – Livestream & Broadcast Production

First Church in Boston, a progressive Unitarian Universalist congregation, is seeking a reliable and tech-savvy AV Assistant to help deliver engaging, livestream Sunday worship services and support occasional special events. If you have experience with live audio, video production, and broadcast technology—and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team—we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Support the weekly Sunday livestream broadcast of worship services to YouTube
• Set up, operate and monitor audio systems, wireless microphones, and sound levels
• Switch and manage multiple camera feeds during live productions
• Configure and monitor livestreams using OBS and other broadcast tools
• Assist with AV setup and support for occasional special events

What We’re Looking For

• Experience with live event, broadcast, and video production
• Strong video and audio production skills
• Familiarity with digital mixing consoles (Midas M32 or similar preferred)
• Experience with video switchers (Roland V-160HD or similar preferred)
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues calmly during live events
• Reliable, collaborative, and adaptable team player
• Associate degree in Communications, Broadcast Production, Video Production, or related experience preferred
• Experience uploading video to YouTube
• Lighting experience is a plus

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time, onsite position
• Minimum of 2 Sundays per month during the church year and 1 Sunday per month during the summer
• Typical Sunday shift: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
• Compensation: $35 per hour
• Additional paid opportunities for training and special events

Premium Pay Opportunities

• Church Year: Work alongside another AV team member; if covering both roles solo, earn double pay (2x rate)
• Summer Services: Simpler solo setup paid at 1.5x regular rate

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb stairs comfortably
• Ability to lift and move AV equipment up to 20 pounds

MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

Do you love making connections and building community?  We are hiring a Membership Coordinator to help us welcome visitors each Sunday, answer their questions, and invite them into the life of First Church in Boston. Located in Back Bay, we welcome people from across the city each week as well as visitors from other parts of the country. We hope to find someone great at welcoming people with intercultural sensitivity to reflect our inclusive values as a Unitarian Universalist congregation. Prior knowledge of Unitarian Universalism preferred, but not required.

The position is part-time, 10 hours/week, with most Sundays onsite from the Sunday following Labor Day to the 2nd Sunday in June. Other hours may be remote for follow-up with visitors, connecting with staff, and planning outreach and engagement opportunities. Starting late August 2026.
