  • Ministerial Search Update: Next phases

    First Church Boston Ministerial Search Timeline

    End of December 2022: “Opening the Search” phase is complete, with the First Church Congregational Record posted with the UUA in early December for review by the pool of UU ministerial candidates.

    January 2023: The Search Committee now enters next phase “Discernment and Selection,” where they begin to review interested candidates, each of whom posts an extensive Ministerial Record as a first step. By the end of January, three “pre-candidates” will be chosen.

    February–March 2023: The Search Committee will arrange to interview these three “pre-candidates” in depth and to hear them preach.

    April–May 2023: Final candidate will come to First Church Boston in late April or early May for a “candidating week” which culminates in the final congregational vote.

  • Winter Solstice Celebration

    On  December 21 at 6:30 pm we gathered for a quiet time in community, to recognize the changing of the season and movements of the earth with poetry & readings, song, and the sounds of the Celtic Harp. We shared the gifts of darkness and light as we held our candles, and were reminded of how many of the traditions of this season are tied together.
    A huge “thank you” to Rev. Sheldon Bennett for pulling this all together. It was a beautiful evening we will all remember.
