Sermon: “Watering the Roots”

We come together for the annual Water Communion service to celebrate the gift of shared religious community.  Through ritual, music, and a sermon, we explore the metaphor of watering our roots to highlight how spiritual care, and community can help to sustain us.  

As you are able, please bring a bit of water from a meaningful place or event from your summer, or water will be provided. Participants will be invited to briefly share what makes this water meaningful to them. In considering your remarks, please think more of a poetical phrase that highlights the meaning. (For example, Rev. Stephanie brings water from a gathering of seminary friends in late July.) 

For Families:  Childcare for children ages 1-8 is available. Older children are invited to remain in the service or to join the childcare helpers for stories, play, and craft.
