During the summer season, we shift into different rhythms with Sunday services in Hale Chapel, space for a slower pace, and different opportunities for engagement on and off our campus.
Starting Sunday, June 28, we move our summer services to our air-conditioned Hale Chapel. Led by guest ministers or a member of the congregation, these services are a smaller gathering of music, reflection, and connection. Each service includes piano music and a soloist from our Choral Ensemble. If you’re traveling, you can still watch the Livestream or service recordings on our YouTube channel. On three Sundays—July 12, August 9, and September 6—we will gather on our magnificent porch for a time of gently guided conversation. Our open-mic event, Café Underground, also shifts to Hale Chapel to become Café Overground, a series of free Community Workshops on 3rd Mondays. No experience necessary! Learn more at Eventbrite:

As a community that seeks to live our values beyond our walls, we have relationships with social justice partners. Summer is a great time to learn more about these organizations and engage in their events. Some ideas:

Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO)
They are currently engaged in a series of events to pressure Citizens Bank to stop funding private prison companies that manage ICE detention centers. Follow this work at gbio.org or social media.

Our regular service and rhythm returns in September, starting with Charter Day (Boston’s birthday) on September 13 and Water Sunday on September 20. Water Sunday is our annual ingathering service in which people are invited to bring a bit of water from their summer journeys—a literal journey to a different place or perhaps a journey of a new experience or insight in your neighborhood.
