The Social Justice Community met for their annual kick-off meeting

First Church Boston’s Social Justice Committee gathered in the auditorium after Sunday service on October 1 for food and fellowship and to review our social justice initiatives.

We heard updates on the work of the five community partners who we support and work with: the Massachusetts Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, UU Mass Action, UU Urban Ministry, and the Boston chapter of Beyond Plastic.

Margaret Moody spoke about ways we can take action and educate ourselves about the human health consequences of plastic production. One option is supporting the Boston area branch of “Beyond Plastics” in lobbying for local and state-wide legislative changes and environmental justice.
