The common read discussion continues, How the Word Is Passed: a Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith. We’ll cover chapters 3, 4, and 5 where Smith tells the story of his visits to Angola prison (“I can’t change what happened here”), Blandford cemetery (“I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I like it”). and Galveston Island (“Our Independence Day”). We’ll use the same Zoom link and will send it again the week of the 27th. Big thanks to Barbara for facilitating a wonderful discussion this week and to Jo-ann for managing the Zoom room.
