When First Church in Boston was redesigned in the late 1960’s, the intent was to create a space that would support all manner of activities. Decades later, this vision is alive and well this month as we welcome a stream of events.

On Saturday, May 8, all are invited to attend our annual FUNdraiser from 5-7:30pm. With food, raffle, silent and live auction items of all kinds, the evening promises to be full of opportunities to connect with others, support the church, and have some fun—including live music by the Jamaica Plain Saxophone Quartet.
For more live music, consider joining Café Underground on Monday, May 18, This monthly open mic event is open to all in the Boston-area community seeking a place to share their music, poetry, or spoken word.

If events focused on ideas and discussion are more your speed, Read with the Rev returns on Sunday, May 17 with a discussion of the UU Pocket Guide—a chance to learn more about current trends in Unitarian Universalist thinking.

Or, on Wednesday, May 27, the Rev. Dr. Debra Haffner offers her second Minns Lecture on the Bible and Sexuality.
As a congregation, we connect to many other organizations, especially through our Social Justice Community Partners. We also support Sanctuary Boston, a progressive spiritual community—including their work for immigrant justice. Additionally, we host many concerts, including a long-time relationships with Chameleon Arts Ensemble and Glissando—details on our calendar.
Throughout the month, each Sunday morning we gather in-person and online at 11am for a shared experience of spoken word, music, story, and moments of stillness. To learn more about upcoming services and other events, please visit our online calendar or sign-up for our weekly e-news.
