As the first full month of spring, April ushers us into a new season of growth and change. At First Church Boston this April, we will celebrate our new chapter with the Rev. Dr. Stephanie May as our minister in a special service of installation at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. The Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt, President of the Unitarian Universalist Association, will deliver the sermon, and remarks will be shared by a number of other distinguished guests. Music Director Gigi Mitchell-Velasco will direct the First Church Boston Choral Ensemble in celebratory music accompanied by brass and organ. Guest musicians from Sanctuary Boston will also participate.

Since our founding as a congregation in 1630, the members of the church have chosen their own minister. While the Rev. Dr. May was elected as Minister by a vote of the congregation in May 2023, this Installation Service formally recognizes the relationship between minister and members in their shared ministry to the church and community. In the history of First Church, the Rev. Dr. May is the first woman elected to become the Senior Minister of the congregation.

Times of transition and new beginnings are opportunities to revisit both the root values of an institution and to reimagine a vision for the future. The Installation Service is an opportunity to be part of reconnecting with both the past and the future. All are welcome to attend this historic event. RSVPs requested at Paperless Post.
