DESCRIPTION:Sermon: "Encounters with Public Art"\nBarbara Martin\n\nWe may 
 seek out works of public art or come upon them unexpectedly—statues in p
 arks or civic plazas\, murals on buildings\, installations that pop up to 
 interpret a historic site or engage the passer-by. Existing in our own spa
 ce and often speaking to our history or community\, these works prompt res
 ponse and conversation.\n\nThroughout my life\, contemporary works of publ
 ic art have brought together past and present in new and memorable ways. T
 he opening of the Boston Triennial suggested that this is a summer to shar
 e some of those encounters and conversations.\n\nImages of public art refe
