Charter Day service,”Seeds of Enslavement” Rev. Dr. Stephanie May

Sermon: “Seeds of Enslavement” Rev. Dr. Stephanie May
In recognizing Boston’s Charter Day, we pause to acknowledge how the beginnings of the City and the Church also contain the seeds of the practice of enslavement, which quickly grew.
Nearly four centuries later, we continue to reckon with the legacy of enslavement within our history and our institutions. As we revisit this history, we also seek to honor the dignity and strength of enslaved Native Americans, Africans, Caribbean Americans, and African Americans who endured and resisted enslavement.
