Director of Music Gigi Mitchell-Velasco leads the First Church Boston Choral Ensemble in A Christmas Celebration, featuring Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with harpist Hyunjung Choi. 

Modern motets, instrumental music and carols from other lands follow, including the original Ukrainian carol “Shchedryk, Shchedryk” arr. Mykola Leontovych, from America, “Lux Aurumque” of Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”, from France, Henri Büsser’s exquisite “Sleep of the Infant Jesus” for cello, harp and organ, from England, “Sussex Carol” arr. Dale Wood and Meditation on Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Down Ampney for flute and harp by Noel Velasco, and the Scottish carol “Tàladh Chriosda” arr. Paul Halley.
The evening will conclude with an audience Christmas Carol Singalong. Special guests are harpist Hyunjung Choi, cellist Eleanor Blake and organist Heinrich Christensen. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience Christmas around the world, deep in the heart of Boston.
