  • A full house at 50th Anniversary Organ Concert

    • Music Director at podium with Organ Concert poster slide

On Sunday afternoon, October 16, First Church Boston members and friends celebrated the 50th anniversary of the installation of their Casavant Frères organ, which holds a prominent place in their Paul Rudolph building.

Music Director Gigi Mitchell-Velasco arranged for seven talented musicians to play various pieces showcasing First Church Boston’s sanctuary organ. A projection screen provided images of the organists as they played the organ from the balcony.

Many thanks to our illustrious guest organists that included Robert August and Paul Ciennewa (former First Church Boston Music Directors), Heinrich Christensen (King’s Chapel), Carson Cooman (Harvard’s Memorial Chapel), Colin Lynch (Trinity Church) Peter Sykes (Boston University, Juilliard, University of Michigan, First Church in Cambridge) and Jonathan Wessler (First Lutheran Church of Boston).
