Violinist and Cellist in Residence

First Church in Boston welcomes cellist Leo Eguchi and violinist Sasha Callahan as Instrumentalists in Residence for the 2016-2017 season.

 

 

 

Leo Eguchi has been described as “copiously skilled and confident” (New York Times) with performances that were "ravishing" (New Bedford Standard-Times) and "played with passion and vitality" (Boston Music Intellegencer). He has performed across the North America, Europe and Asia and is a founding member of the Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival in Oregon as well as Sheffield Chamber Players here in New England.

Leo is makes regular appearances with most of New England’s leading ensembles and many of his chamber music performances may be found on Navona Records. He holds degrees from Boston University and the University of Michigan in both music and physics.

 

 

 

 

 

Violinist Sasha Callahan has established a vibrant and diverse career as recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician. In addition to extensive performances in North America, Europe and Asia, she is a founding member of the Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival in Oregon and Sheffield Chamber Players.  She is a member of the Portland Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and New Hampshire Music Festival, as appears regularly with the Boston Pops, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Lyric Opera, and Boston Ballet.  Sasha has performed at the Tanglewood, Meadowmount and Mozarteum music festivals and studied at Rice University, with graduate work at Boston University.
